Roger Persad is a freelance photographer, videographer, and digital creative based in Toronto, Canada. He has a global perspective that has developed through years of travel, paired with a refined and intimate eye, which helps him to connect deeply with his subjects, and notice small details that most people miss.
Roger's work primarily explores the intersections of ethnicity, race, and class, in his home city of Toronto, and beyond. He aims to turn the literal and figurative lens towards marginalized groups and individuals, telling their stories in an authentic way, and increasing genuine understanding and empathy.
Born in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and raised in Scarborough—one of Toronto’s most culturally diverse neighbourhoods—Roger’s perspective is informed by lived experience, migration, and community. These influences have shaped his long-standing interest in social justice and equity, with a particular focus on human rights and BIPOC representation.
Roger has formally studied visual arts and new media at both the college and university level, alongside coursework in the social sciences. He holds an Honours BA with a double major in New Media and Psychology, grounding his creative practice in both visual storytelling and human-centred thinking.
